The business requirements
Tufferman are the UK’s leading specialists in home and commercial shelving and storage units supplying big brands like Sony, MacDonalds, Waterstones, ITV and Millets.
Tufferman approached us to upgrade their current Magento 1 site with a contemporary, bespoke design that delivered clarity and simplicity.
The current site was facing issues with site speed (taking up to 6 seconds to load) and product category listings and a checkout process that lacked the ability to up and cross sell products. This affected sales, customer engagement and ultimately devalued the brand.
The client challenged us to recommend a suitable scalable ecommerce platform that would enable it to sell customizable products and handle complex B2B sales.
Our solution
Our lead designer worked with the client to understand the target audience (both B2B and B2C) and its businesses objectives and goals and the user journey by analyzing Google Analytics to understand drop off.
Our initial designs focused on the user journey for the home page, product categories and checkout.
The client had considered using Shopify however we felt that leveraging Magento’s Large Extensions Marketplace would add rich features and capabilities and enable integration with other digital tools like ERP.
Further consideration to upgrade to Magento 2 (rather than move to Shopify) also meant that our developers were able to plan and safely migrate vast amounts of customer and product data from Magento 1 to Magento 2.
A customised check out process was developed for a faster checkout and to reduce cart abandonment rates.
The results
The result was a fresh, modern and responsive design that put the user first. Complexity was taken out of the user journey by using the adage of less is more but without sacrificing usability and customer engagement.
The migration to Magento 2 worked seamlessly and results were significant.
The loading time of Magento 2 was reduced from under six to just one second.
The new streamlined checkout was much easier and faster for customers. Clients could either check out as a ‘guest’ or have the option to register. Ajax Add-to-Cart meant that the page didn’t have to reload every time a new product was added to the cart.
A simpler CMS with a better dashboard and simpler product uploading helped admin perform tasks, that were once complex, with ease.
The results were clear: reduced bounce rates, greater customer engagement, increased sales and better SEO.
