Ace Video Games aims to provide competitively priced video games, consoles and accessories with quick dispatch and delivery. With a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in the video games retail industry, the company sources its products from official UK suppliers, ensuring their customers receive legitimate copies of their favourite games. As a trusted supplier, they can ship out new games so customers receive them on the release date; a bonus for any gaming fan.

Ace Video Games approached chilliapple with the brief to develop a website to sell third party video games, consoles and accessories that complimented their other channels including Amazon and eBay. The website would also need to integrate with Linnworks to handle stock management, order processing, labels, picking and packing.

Our solution

The objective was to design and develop a minimalist website that would help the client in establishing an online presence.

After working with the client to establish the long-term requirements, chilliapple recommended that the website be built in WordPress using WooCommerce and would be integrated with their stock management software, Linnworks, via a two-way API.

Building the site in the WordPress framework solution would enable greater cost efficiency for future development whilst still providing users with a professional looking ecommerce website.

Chilliapple would also incorporate the following key features within the website:

Ability to expand product listing easily via a CSV importer;
Ability to order pre-release products, for dispatch as soon as they are available in stock;
Free typing search facility;
Product sorting features for category pages;
Ability to sell digital codes (e.g. Steam codes) which will therefore be exempt from shipping charges, as well as physical products;
Feature to update banner images with special offers, linking through to the offer and;

Feature to change background image so that the theme can be modified according to the latest game releases.

The results

The result was a clean, modern and responsive website of which chilliapple have provided Ace Goods with a scalable framework for selling their products. WooCommerce’s flexibility has allowed the client to easily increase the amount of products they sell to fall in line with their sales goals and objectives.
